Fatal Peninsula Stabbing Followed Dispute Over $10 Debt: Cops
Darnell Mckean, 46 of East Palo Alto, was arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A dispute over a $10 debt led to the fatal stabbing of a Peninsula man Friday, authorities said.
Darnell Mckean, 46 of East Palo Alto, was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into San Mateo County jail, the East Palo Alto Police Department said.
The victim was identified as Mario Ventura, police said.

The Peninsula city’s fourth reported homicide of this year occurred at around 1 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 1900 block of Cooley Street, police said.
Ventura was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“Information obtained by investigators indicated Mckean stabbed the victim, with a knife during an argument over a $10 debt,” police said in a statement.
Mckean was arrested at around 6:10 p.m. in San Francisco’s Mission District.
The East Palo Alto Police Department made the arrest in partnership partnership with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, Atherton Police Department, Menlo Park Police Department, San Mateo County Gang Task Force, and the San Francisco Police Department, the agency said.
