Earthquake Recap: Five Quakes Shake Peninsula

A handful of earthquakes hit just offshore this week.

Five small to medium-sized earthquakes made waves on the Richter scale in and around San Mateo County this week, with the largest measured at 3.3, offshore directly west of Daly City.

Generally, earthquakes that fail to break the 2-mark on the scale are difficult to feel far from the epicenter. As of Sunday evening, 26 people reported feeling the 3.3 earthquake on the U.S. Geological Survey website. Thirty-six reported feeling a 2.7.

Meanwhile, a 4.7 earthquake was felt across a wide area of Southern California Monday. There were no injuries.
