Ex-South Bay Trader Joe's Employee Charged With Sexual Assault

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — A former Trader Joe’s employee in Los Altos was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a series of sexual assaults against juveniles at the store, according to Los Altos police.

Deepak Charan, a 29-year-old East Palo Alto resident, was accused of touching two male juveniles in an “inappropriate sexual manner" while they were at the store, according to police. The two victims did not know each other.

Police did not specify when the incidents occurred or when Charan stopped working at the store.

Charan, a convicted sex offender, was arrested in Redwood City on Tuesday at the office of his probation officer. He was booked into the Santa Clara Main Jail in San Jose.
