Facebook Has 2 Billion Members, Mark Zuckerberg Says

PALO ALTO, CA — Facebook has 2 billion members as of Tuesday morning, founder Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday morning. Its membership far surpasses the citizenry of any country; China's citizens are estimated to number around 1.4 billion, while India has a population around 1.3 billion.

"As of this morning, the Facebook Community is now officially 2 billion people," Zuckerberg said in a post on — where else? — Facebook.

"We're making progress connecting the world, and now let's bring the world closer together," he continued. "It's an honor to be on this journey with you."
