Board to Discuss Offering Multivariable Calculus on Campus (thecampanile.org) — Palo Alto High School leaders are weighing how to offer Multivariable Calculus on campus, with the school board considering a dual-enrollment option and the principal favoring a Foothill College–only credit version. Students and staff are debating whether the advanced course would expand opportunity or worsen academic pressure for a small group of highly accelerated learners.
   

2. Palo Alto's teacher housing project accepting applications (paloaltoonline.com) — Palo Alto’s first dedicated teacher housing complex, The Acacia at 231 Grant Ave., is now open and still accepting applications from local school employees. With set-aside units for Palo Alto Unified and nearby districts, income-based rents, and family-friendly amenities, the project aims to keep educators living close to the communities they serve.
   

3. Mother of motorcyclist who died on Oregon Expressway sues city for negligence (paloaltoonline.com) — A Mountain View motorcyclist’s fatal crash on Palo Alto’s Oregon Expressway has led his mother to file a wrongful-death lawsuit accusing the city and Santa Clara County of negligent road maintenance. Filed Dec. 19, the suit follows official findings that no other vehicles were involved and comes after a community fundraiser helped cover his funeral and memorial costs.
   

4. Palo Alto appeals plan to enhance SFO (paloaltoonline.com) — Palo Alto is formally appealing San Francisco’s plan to upgrade SFO, arguing the project could worsen airplane noise and pollution over local neighborhoods. City leaders say the environmental review ignores real impacts on communities under flight paths and are pressing airport officials to redo the analysis before moving ahead.
   

5. Elon Musk's xAI hires Android engineers, outlines skills and hiring process (adgully.com) — Palo Alto is one of several hubs where Elon Musk’s xAI is now recruiting Android engineers, alongside New York, San Francisco, and the UK. The roles focus on modern Android tools like Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with a multi-step hiring process that includes live coding and a final informal team meeting for shortlisted candidates.
