Former Palo Altan on Jeopardy Monday
Tune in to see if Elaine Moise, a former Palo Alto resident, comes back a winner.

An avid player of trivia games, Stanford financial analyst and former Palo Alto resident Elaine Moise will appear on Jeopardy this Monday, June 8.
The 58-year-old senior support Analyst for Oracle Financials at Stanford and klezmer musician took an online test on the Jeopardy website.
Months later the game show invited her to tryout in person in San Francisco, where she took another test and the "played practice Jeopardy games, 'signalling devices' and all," Moises said.
She must have impressed them because they contacted her by email to say that she'd been accepted. Moises is now on her way to Los Angeles for the taping.
According to Moises, she "didn't do any prep."

"This is a game, and I just did it for fun," she said. "I figured that whatever I knew, I knew, and whatever I didn't, I didn't."
She admitted to some nervousness, particularly about being on national television, and added that meeting the other contestants was fun.

"I wouldn't say I exactly 'met' Alex Trebek, but he talked to us, and he's a very pleasant guy," she said.
While Moises—who lives in Mountain View, couldn't disclose the outcome of the game, the local mom has had years of trivia game practice. She always does the NY Times crossword and loves Trivial Pursuit.
"I suppose you can say that I like accumulating odd bits of information," Moises said.
Oh, and if you're curious about her "chat" with Trebek, she mentioned her klezmer music band "The Klezmakers." Describe as Jewish jazz, The Klezmakers will perform a free concert in Los Gatos Vasona Park in Mountain View on June 23 at 5 p.m.
