Icelandic Airline Names New SFO Flight "TF-Gay"

To support LGBT rights, WOW Air, Iceland's budget carrier, has monikered one of its Airbus A330-300s that will fly to SFO from Reykjavik.

SAN FRANCISCO - Iceland's low budget airline announced this week it will dub one of its new Airbus flights between Reykjavik and San Francisco as "TF-GAY" in support of LGBT rights. The plane is a bright pink.

The Airbus A330-300 flights will be begin in June.

"WOW Air is an airline for the people and one of our most important goals is to lower fares in order to enable everybody to travel the world and get to know different cultures," WOW Air CEO Skuli Mogensen told gayiceland online.

"We wholeheartedly support queer people’s fight for rights. Just as we support equal rights for everybody, no matter their gender, religion, ethnicity or culture," added Mogensen.

London's Daily Mail says the airline has given a number of playful registration names to its planes, including TF-MOM, which flies to Berlin, and TF-BRO, which is used on a route to Paris.

“One of our pilots came to me and suggested this name and I thought it was a cool idea so we went ahead with it,” Mogensen recalls.

Wow says Los Angeles will soon be added to its route map.
