PALO ALTO, CA — Officer John Zalac could be considered the cat's meow after rescuing this feisty little kitten from an engine compartment Thursday night, the police department reported Friday on its Twitter feed.

"The kitten apparently preferred the engine compartment" the Tweet reads, as it shows the motor-mouthed kitten sounding off after it was apprehended on the 11:11 p.m. call.

The woman who owns the vehicle told the officer she didn't know the feline was in the precarious position until she heard meowing coming from the compartment.
