PALO ALTO, CA — The vibrant flavors and traditions of Spain have made their way to Downtown Palo Alto as Macarena opened its doors on last Friday.
Located at 420 Ramona Street, Macarena aims to deliver a classic yet contemporary Spanish dining experience, celebrating tapas, paellas, and Spain’s rich culinary heritage.
Inspired by the art of gathering and sharing, the restaurant aims to immerse guests in the bold flavors, movement, and soul of Spanish culture.

It's the first U.S. location for Macarena Restaurant Group, founded by David Linares and Elizabeth Reviriego, in collaboration with renowned Spanish chefs Toni Santanach and Sergio Box.

Led by Executive Chefs Sergio Box and Toni Santanach, Macarena’s menu stays true to Spanish tradition while incorporating high-quality, seasonal ingredients. The menu features:

- Classic Tapas like Croquetas de Jamón (filled with 100% jamón ibérico), Churros Bravos (a twist on patatas bravas), and Gambas al Pil-Pil (shrimp in roasted garlic cream).
- Signature Paellas, including the Paella ‘del Senyoret’ (seafood paella with squid, mussels, and octopus), Paella Negra con Vieiras (squid ink paella with scallops and saffron sauce), and a Vegan Paella with mushrooms and seasonal vegetables.
- Vegetable-Focused Dishes, such as Artichoke Flowers (confit artichokes with parmesan snow) and the Lettuce Flower Salad (a vibrant mix of baby zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and radish).
- Entrées including Grilled Presa Ibérica Pork, oven-roasted lamb shank, and char-grilled Dry-Aged Ribeye.
- Desserts, featuring Sacher Chocolate Cake, Gorgonzola Cheesecake, and Tiramisú de Melindro (Catalan sponge cake with mascarpone cream).
The restaurant also offers a tableside Jamón Ibérico carving experience, where guests can enjoy hand-carved charcuterie selections.
Elevated Cocktails from a Renowned Mixologist
Macarena’s cocktail program, designed by Cristian Hornos, blends tradition and innovation. Hornos, a six-time World Class Spain Top 15 Bartender, has worked alongside Ferran and Albert Adrià and contributed to Bullipedia. His cocktail menu offers bold and interactive experiences, pushing the boundaries of mixology while honoring Spanish flavors.
