
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Board of Education on Wednesday elected its former vice president to be its new president, board officials said. Rosemary Kamei was elected in a 6-0 vote with one absence. Kamei was appointed to the board in 2015 and was elected to a four-year term in 2016.
She is currently the chief operating officer for the Silicon Valley Education Foundation. Kamei previously served as executive director of Building Futures Now, an after-school and summer school program in East Palo Alto.
For 17 years, she was a director for the Santa Clara Valley Water District and taught for two years at San Jose State University as an adjunct professor.
