Palo Alto City Hall Lit Up To Support Ukraine: Photo

PALO ALTO, CA — Palo Alto City was lit up in blue and yellow, the two colors on the Ukrainian flag, to support Ukraine amidst the Russian invasion.

Additionally, a fundraiser started by Palo Alto-based nonprofit Neighbors Abroad for Ukrainian children has raised more than $46,000 as of Sunday night.

The fundraiser specifically supports orphans and homeless children in Ukraine who have been impacted by Russia's invasion, which has created a shortage in food and basic supplies.

"I'm not surprised but it really touches my heart how quickly Neighbors Abroad jumped in on this and said, 'We're helping and set this fundraiser up,'" Jeannet Kiessling, the president of the Germany division of the children's organization kleine herzen — which operates near Neighbors Abroad's sister city of Heidelberg — said to Patch last week..
