Palo Alto School Makes U.S. News Rankings 2016 Best High Schools
Palo Alto High made the list for Top Schools in California.

PALO ALTO - Palo Alto High is ranked the 31st best high school in California by the prestigious US News and World Reports 2016 rankings, and ranked 221st nationally.
The school was singled out because "Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Palo Alto High is 71 percent. The student body makeup is 51 percent male and 49 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 47 percent. Palo Alto High is 1 of 2 high schools in the Palo Alto Unified School District."
The other high school in the district, Henry M. Gunn High, was not rated.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."
The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.
