PALO ALTO, CA — An employee at a Palo Alto tech company and her two children were killed Sunday in Ukraine while attempting to flee the country.
Tatiana Perebeinis, the chief accountant of SE Ranking, was hit by Russian artillery, according to a post by the company on Facebook.
Perebeinis’ family was attempting to evacuate from Irpin, a city near Kyiv.

“There are no words to describe our grief or to mend our pain,” the company posted on Facebook. “But for us, it is crucial to not let Tania and her kids Alise and Nikita remain just statistics. Her family became the victim of the unprovoked fire on civilians, which under any law is a crime against humanity.”
More than 400 Ukrainian deaths have been confirmed in the Russian invasion so far, according to the United Nations, though the real figure is likely much higher.
