Pedestrian Killed By Caltrain In Palo Alto
Officials said a person was on the tracks for an unknown reason when they were struck by a northbound train Friday morning.

PALO ALTO, CA — A train fatally struck a person Friday morning while heading northbound through Palo Alto, according to officials.
Caltrain said a person was on the tracks for an unknown reason with the #107 train with 78 passengers on board struck the person. Medics rushed to the scene and confirmed the incident was fatal shortly before 8 a.m. and Transit Police took over the scene a few minutes later.
Investigators said it was too early to know why the person was on the tracks, and the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner will determine the victim's identity.

"Our thoughts are with the individual, our train operators, and the responding crews," Caltrain said in a statement. "Caltrain remains everyone to be safe around train tracks."
Transit Police cleared the train to resume northbound service to San Francisco at 9:15 a.m.
