Pacific Gas & Electric will vent natural gas on Friday in Palo Alto, Stanford and Menlo Park.
The extraction begins at 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. in short bursts, according to PG&E. The gas may be pungent and detectable shortly after the release of strange noises, PG&E officials warned.
"Like skunk or rotten eggs," a City of Palo Alto statement explained.
The locations where crews plan to release the gas include:
- Sand Hill Road and Branner Drive
- Junipero Serra Blvd, north of Santa Maria
- Foothill Expressway, South of Page Mill Road
- Miranda Avenue and Loop Road
Questions and concerns can be directed to PG&E via 1-800-743-5000.
