Power Outages Reduced In South Bay

Tuesday outages have whittled down to about 400 households and businesses affected by hot weather and equipment failures.

CAMPBELL, CA — As of Tuesday morning, power outages remain but have been reduced in size to about 400 households and businesses affected, Pacific Gas & Electric reported.

In East San Jose, 143 customers were in the dark and 62 on the west side. To the south, 206 were without power near Santa Teresa County Park.

Hot weather continues through Tuesday, with a cooling expected by the National Weather Service by midweek.

The culprit in most cases appears to be the weather. Record temperatures appear to be causing an energy overload on the grid. Equipment failure was listed for one of the outages, PG&E added.
