Run With City Manager on Wednesdays

Palo Alto City Manager Jim Keene encourages the community to run with him and city staff.

This could be the ultimate running club.

In order to promote health and wellness within the City of Palo Alto, nearly three months ago City Manager James Keene began a running club. Then he suffered a collapsed collapsed in April.

"It was unexpected," said a very-fit Keene, at the beginning of a nearly five mile run through the Stanford campus last week. Keene, Christen Creed from Palo Alto Utilities and new business permitting Director Peter Pirnejad, quickly had a few of us eating dust as they ran ahead.

But don't let their speed intimidate you. Different people with different levels of athleticism join in the run every week and it's great to bring up the rear with them. There are two options a three mile loop up and around Palm Drive or a five mile one through campus.

Why miss all of the beauty the Stanford campus has to offer? Join City Manager Keene every Wednesday at promptly at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center plaza. The group leaves sharply at 5:40 p.m.
