SamTrans: For Just $40, Kids Ride All Summer Long

Repeat after me: "No honey, I won't drive you to the mall. You've got a bus pass!"

Written by Joan Dentler

Parents rejoice! You no longer need to spend your summer driving your kids to the mall, the park, their friends' houses or the Caltrain station. Thanks to the deeply discounted SamTrans Summer Youth Pass, kids can ride SamTrans all summer long for just $40.

According to the SamTrans website, the pass not only frees up parents and caregivers from chauffeur duties, it teaches kids how to use public transportation and relieves mom and dad of chauffeur duties.

With dozens of routes throughout San Mateo County and into Palo Alto and San Francisco, SamTrans offers kids plenty of opportunity to get where they want to go this summer. The pass is also a great way for kids to get to their summer jobs.

The pass is available to anyone 17 and younger and allows unlimited rides on SamTrans buses between June 1 and Aug. 31 for one low price.  The $40 pass is $68 less than the cost of three regular monthly youth passes.
