Santa Clara County Inmate Captured 20 Days Later
John Bivins, 47, was captured by U.S. Marshals.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- An inmate who escaped Nov. 6 from a Palo Alto courthouse was captured Sunday morning in San Leandro. John Bivins, 47, was captured by U.S. Marshals after he escaped from the courthouse with another inmate, Tramel McClough, who was captured in Stockton last Tuesday.
The inmates escaped from a Palo Alto courthouse as they were going to a court appearance earlier this month. They were arrested in February on suspicion of stealing $64,400 worth of cellphones and other merchandise from a Verizon store in Sunnyvale, officials said.
Following the escape, a 44-year-old Sunnyvale woman named Marquita Kirk was arrested for allegedly helping the inmates.

Last week, the duo were involved in an officer-involved shooting and vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when McClough ran inside a Stockton Walmart where he was detained, officials said.
Bivins, however, escaped from the scene. Information about how Bivins was captured on Sunday was not immediately released.
