Body Of Missing Stanford Nurse Found In Fremont

Michael Odell left in the middle of a shift Tuesday. No details were provided about cause or manner of death.

PALO ALTO, CA — Authorities found the body of Michael Odell, a travel nurse at Stanford Hospital who left in the middle of a shift on Tuesday and never returned, after days of searching.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau announced that a body discovered in Fremont at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday was Odell. No details were provided about cause or manner of death.

Odell, 27, “left work abruptly” to head to his car around 4:30 a.m. and “never came back,” his roommate, Joshua Paredes, told NBC Bay Area.

Odell’s car was found Tuesday by the Dumbarton Bridge Toll Plaza in Fremont, but there was no sign of him. Odell worked as a neurological nurse in the intensive care unit, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The CHP Hayward and Coast Guard were helping in the search on Wednesday, the Chronicle reported.
