South Bay Store Donating Sales Proceeds to Women's Equality Group

The Palo Alto location of Finnish home furnishings and fashion company Marimekko is donating $10 for every Tasaraita-print garment sold.

SOUTH BAY, CA -- From now through the end of February, the Palo Alto location of Finnish home furnishings and fashion company Marimekko is donating a portion of sales proceeds to an organization dedicated to women's rights.

For the next few weeks, Marimekko is donating $10 from each Tasaraita-print garment sold to Equality Now, which fights for gender equality and to create a just world for women and girls.

The company's Tasaraita print (meaning “equal stripe” in Finnish) is recognized worldwide for its equal-spaced horizontal stripes, which symbolize gender and age equality. The print has been in Marimekko collections continuously since its 1968 debut.

Tasaraita was designed to promote equality and was Marimekko’s first jersey collection. Over the years, it has been seen in numerous colorways and styles, and is featured in both Marimekko’s continuing and seasonal collections.

Garments in the collection are priced from $95 for a T-shirt to $265 for dress, and are available in sizes XS – XXL. They're 100 percent cotton and machine washable. Two styles -- Lyhythiha and Pitkähiha -- are unisex and can be worn by both men and women.
