Dreiling Appointed Interim PVE City Manager

A former Palos Verdes Estates police chief will serve as the interim city manager for Palos Verdes Estates starting Feb. 23, the city council decided Tuesday.

Don Dreiling, who retired from the police force in 2012, will temporarily assume the job of outgoing City Manager Judy Smith until a more permanent replacement can be found.

Smith resigned her position at the end of December during a special City Council meeting. She plans to move to Orange County. She became the Palos Verdes Estates city manager in August 2011 after serving as assistant city manager.

Dreiling will serve as interim city manager until May 15 or until the city hires a permanent city manager.
