Drivers Advised to Avoid Malaga Cove Area

Road work on Palos Verdes Drive North will cause delays in the Malaga Cove area.

Drivers should avoid the area near Malaga Cove Plaza or expect long traffic delays on Thursday, according to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department.

Crews are resurfacing Palos Verdes Drive North between the city limits and the Triangle area, and Palos Verdes Drive West is being closed intermittently, police said.

"Delays will occur through 4 p.m. (Wednesday) and again until 4 p.m. Thursday," according to a message from the city.

The city's update sent Wednesday evening detailed the road work being performed on Thursday:

The triangle area and Palos Verdes Drive West from Via Corta to the triangle area will be paved tomorrow. The work tomorrow closes lanes for much shorter periods; however, delays should be shorter in duration due to traffic control improvements learned today. It is still strongly recommended that motorists avoid the triangle area.

Slurry will be completed on Palos Verdes Drive North in both directions between Via Pasqual and the city limit Thursday. Slurry was scheduled for completion Wednesday, but the contractor had a slurry truck break down.

The ocean (resident) side outside one-third of Palos Verdes Drive West between Via Corta and Paseo Del Mar will be slurried tomorrow. Palos Verdes Drive West will be slurry sealed in three parts, so two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.

Via Del Puente will be slurry sealed Thursday

Crews will continue to resurface streets in Palos Verdes Estates through next week.
