Monday Essentials: City Council, National Night Out
Here are some things to look forward to this week on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Here are five things Palos Verdes residents should know this week:
- The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the community center at Hesse Park. The agenda is available online.
- The election filing period for the Rolling Hills Estates City Council, Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Board of Education and the Palos Verdes Library District Board of Trustees ends Friday. If an incumbent does not file by Friday, the filing deadline for that race will be extended to Aug. 15. To file for a city council position, contact the respective city hall. To file for the PVPUSD Board of Education or the PVLD Board of Trustees, visit LAVote.net.
- National Night Out is Tuesday. Events are scheduled throughout the Palos Verdes Peninsula; check with your local homeowner's association or Neighborhood Watch group for details.
