Palos Verdes Estates Appoints New City Manager
Elaine Jeng will fill the position that was vacated after the former City Manager resigned in February.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — The city of Palos Verdes Estates appointed Elaine Jeng as the new City Manager at Tuesday's city council meeting.
Jeng previously served as the city manager for neighboring the Palos Verdes Peninsula city of Rolling Hills since 2018 and has 25 years of experinece, which made her stand out during the search according to Mayor Jim Roos.
"During our selection process, we focused on identifying a leader who would challenge the status quo, provide leadership and continuity for our City staff, and drive a customer-service-oriented culture. Elaine exhibited these traits and more. The City Council is extremely pleased to have been able to recruit such a leader, and we look forward to working with her."

During her time working in Rolling Hills, officials said Jeng has developed relationships with local leaders and neighboring facilities, which places her in a good position to tackle challenges in Palos Verdes Estates officials said.
Jeng replaced former City Manager Mark Prestwich, who resigned in February to pursue another opportunity according to officials. She will begin serving the city on July 10 according to the city.

Before her time on the Peninsula, Jeng earned her Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering and is also a certified professional engineer. Jeng also worked as the Director of Public Works for the city of El Monte, where she provided strategic oversight for the delivery of capital improvement projects, residential services and maintenance programs.
“I am excited to embark on this new journey as the City Manager of Palos Verdes Estates,” said Jeng. “I am eager to collaborate with engaged residents, dedicated city staff, and results oriented elected officials to advance the city’s aspirations and targets. I want to thank the City Council for entrusting me with this important role. Together, I hope we can bolster public trust, and serve the community to meet its needs.
