Palos Verdes Student Earns Perfect Score On ACT Test

Around 0.2 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District said.

PALOS VERDES, CA — A Palos Verdes High School student earned a perfect high ACT score, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District announced Thursday.

Bradley Knoblauch, a class of 2020 student at PVHS, earned the highest possible score of 36 on the exam. Around 0.2 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score, PVPUSD said. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2018, only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million ACT-takers earned a score of 36, according to the press release.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of one to 36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores. The score for ACT’s optional writing test is reported separately and is not included within the composite score.

ACT CEO Marten Roorda said in a letter to the student recognizing this exceptional achievement: "Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare. Your exceptional scores will provide any college or university with ample evidence of your readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead."
