Strides In Recovery is hosting the 5K in Palos Verdes to support those in recovery from addiction.

PALOS VERDES, CA — The nation's largest sober walking and running program, Strides In Recovery, will host a fundraiser in Palos Verdes to support those in recovery from addiction.

The Palos Verdes Trails 5K will take place on Sunday at 8 a.m. at Ernie Howlett Park where community members will get to experience a morning of camaraderie, accomplishment and the area's horse trails.

Participants from addiction treatment programs across Los Angeles County will also be running to build physical, mental and emotional resilience. Hundreds of local community members will run alongside them to symbolize the power of solidarity.

"Our program is about so much more than running," said Leslie Gold, Executive Director of Strides in Recovery. "It’s about helping people rebuild their lives. We’re excited to have the local community come out and enjoy the scenic horse trails with us, celebrating not only fitness but also the strength, courage, and commitment it takes to overcome addiction."

All runners and walkers were invited to participate. Participants will receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medal. It costs $45 to register for the run on the Palos Verdes Trail 5K webpage.
