Authorities believe he was talking on a cellphone when he hit the Mercedes at a high enough speed that the car was pushed into a 1994 Chevy Cavalier parked in front of it. A pedestrian was pinned between the two vehicles.
The Mercedes had to be backed up to free the pedestrian, and the pedestrian was hospitalized because of injuries to both his legs. It is not believed the injuries were life-threatening.
