PVPUSD Marks Key Milestones in Measure SOS Bond Program

Announces First Groundbreaking Project

PALOS VERDES, CA — The Board of Education of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District

(PVPUSD) is pleased to announce several key milestones in the planning and implementation of the
Measure SOS bond program, underscoring the District’s commitment to transparency, fiscal
stewardship, and meaningful improvements for students and the community.

On May 14, 2025, the Board approved the final project prioritization list for Measure SOS. This
important step ensures resources are strategically allocated to deliver the greatest benefit across
the school community.

At its June 3 and June 25 meetings, the Board reviewed recommendations and approved pre-qualified vendor lists for critical services, including Construction Management, Material Testing and Inspection, Labor Compliance, Commissioning, CEQA Consulting, Geotechnical Engineering, DSA Inspector of Record, and Hazardous Materials Surveying, Testing, Abatement Planning, and
Monitoring. These decisions ensure a pool of highly qualified partners to support the bond
program’s success.

In August 2025, following a thorough process of interviews, presentations, and strategic
evaluations, PVPUSD selected Balfour Beatty as the construction management firm, along with four
architectural firms—Ruhnau Clarke Architecture, tBP Architecture, DLR Group, and PBWS
Architecture—to lead upcoming projects.

The District is proud to announce the approval of its first groundbreaking project under Measure
SOS: the Miraleste Intermediate School Swimming Pool Improvement Project. Following a comprehensive pre-qualification and bidding process, the Board approved the project on August 27, 2025.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Miraleste Intermediate
School (29323 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes). The project is anticipated to be
completed by February 2026 and will bring lasting benefits to students, families, and the broader
community.

“We are excited to begin our school facility upgrades with a project that will benefit Miraleste
Intermediate School, our district high schools, and the broader community. With this project—and
all those to come—we remain committed to using taxpayer dollars responsibly and to delivering
significant and lasting facility improvements." said Linda Kurt, President of the PVPUSD Board of
Education. The Board and District leaders invite all community members to join them in celebrating
the groundbreaking of the Miraleste Intermediate Swimming Pool Improvement Project on September 14.
