Search Called Off for Parasailer Missing Off White Point

The search for a missing parasailer off the coast of San Pedro has been called off.

The person was reported missing in the water off White Point in San Pedro at 7:52 p.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, and a multi-agency search that included lifeguards was initiated.

About 11 p.m. Monday, the search was suspended when no one was found and it became too dark to continue, said Dispatch Supervisor Rey Dong of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Tuesday morning, authorities received new information indicating that the parasailer apparently had not been in distress, and the search was called off, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
