Michele Charles 

• Michele Charles, 17, of Rancho Palos Verdes.
• Senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School.
• Charles is Associated Student Body president, a varsity soccer team captain and 4.8 GPA-holder. She just found out Monday that she'll be one of this year's valedictorians. Charles hopes to attend Duke University in the fall and is interested in studying neuroscience and anthropology. 
• Nominated for her work in and out of the classroom, Charles also was recognized for her "delightful" and "grounded" attitude. She listed off some of her many accomplishments and insisted she liked a busy schedule. It's packed with sports events, youth group participation, honors society commitments and community service. She has big hopes to attend Duke University in the fall and isn't planning on an easy schedule with interests in neuroscience and anthropology. It's clear Charles' nomination is based as much on personality as it is on academic and extracurricular successes.
