View Palos Verdes Estates' Highest Paid Workers: CA State Controller's List For 2024

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Who gets paid the most to work in Palos Verdes Estates? According to a report released Wednesday by the California Controller's Office, the 10 highest-paid officials work in public safety and city government.

The agency recently published its 2024 "Government Compensation in California" analysis, which shows how taxpayer funds were spent in the previous year and who received what for being on the public payroll.

"This report is a vital tool in promoting fiscal transparency and accountability in local government," Controller Malia Cohen said. "Californians deserve to know how public funds are being spent and who is being paid with their tax dollars."

The individual who received the most significant income in the Palos Verdes Estates was the police captain, according to the California Controller's Office. They received a total of $259,521 in wages in 2024.

The other highest-paid employees were police sergeants, followed by the city manager.

In 2023, the City Manager was the 14th highest paid government employee, making just over $130,000. They are now the fifth-highest-paid government employee, with their wages increasing to $202,498 in 2024

City council members, including the Mayor, were not paid wages in 2024, according to the California Controller's Office. The city treasurer, meanwhile, made $3,600.

Palos Verdes Estates maintained 68 government positions in 2024, paying out $5,576,704 in wages, according to the California Controller's Office.
