70-Year-Old Pasadena Man Killed In Fatal Shooting Identified
The alleged gunman also attempted to carjack two women and got into a shootout with officers, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

PASADENA, CA — The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner identified 70-year-old Gevork Minissian on Friday as the man killed in a fatal shooting Tuesday.
Minissian, who was a Pasadena resident, was allegedly shot by a man who went on a crime spree in the city, according to Pasadena Police Department Chief John Perez. The alleged gunman later died that day during a shootout with police officers.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what led to the shooting, according to Perez.

"We have no evidence that this crime was gang-related or related in any way to other crimes," he said.
Police officers responded to the 600 block of Sunnyslope Avenue around 2:35 p.m. after a shooting was reported in the area. Minissian was found with a gunshot wound and taken to a hospital, Perez said. He died from his injuries.

A man at the scene fled from officers and jumped into a woman's car in an attempt to steal it, Perez said. He was unsuccessful and continued to flee from police on foot and shot at the officers.
The man then allegedly tried to carjack a second woman but was also unsuccessful in the attempt, according to Perez. He reportedly held the woman at gunpoint until officers cornered him near East Villa Street and North Sunnyslope Avenue.
A shootout ensued between the man and police, Perez said. The man was fatally struck by a single gunshot, but Perez said it's unknown if it was by an officer's bullet or self-inflicted.
Pasadena police have not released the man's name, but Perez said he was in his 20s.
No one else was injured, and the two women the man allegedly tried to carjack were unharmed, Perez said.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4241.
