Caltech Researcher Predicts 8.2-Magnitude Quake In CA's Future
Lucy Jones said a massive earthquake is destined to hit the Golden State.

PASADENA, CA -- A Caltech researcher warned in her new book that the Golden State is destined for a massive earthquake. Lucy Jones predicts a 7.5 to 8.2-magnitude earthquake, according to a Los Angeles Times article.
Jones, a seismologist, writes about her predictions in her new book, "The Big Ones: How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us (and What We Can Do About Them)," according to the Times article.
The book "examines thrust faults and subduction zones; it also considers psychology and evolution," the Times reported.

Jones is not the first seismologist to predict a major earthquake in California's future.
Colorado State University professor Richard Aster wrote in January that the state has been in an "earthquake drought" for years with the last earthquake greater than a magnitude of 7.0 happening in 1906 in San Francisco.
