Central Library Renovations Could Cost More Than $100M: Report
The Pasadena Central Library has been closed since May amid earthquake safety concerns.

PASADENA, CA — The cost to seismically retrofit the Pasadena Central Library may cost as much as $111 million, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
The estimate is $30 million more than what city leaders initially predicted in May when the library had to be closed because of earthquake safety concerns, the paper reported.
Some of the costly issues plaguing the Central Library include its fragile support beams, the lack of a sprinkler system and a disconnected fire alarm system in the library's basement, according to the Star-News.
