Pasadena Man Charged With Murdering His Mother
A man who who allegedly called police and told them he killed his mother pleaded not guilty to murder Wednesday.

PASADENA, CA — A Pasadena man who allegedly called police and told them he killed his mother pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge.
Alex Edward Evans, 30, is charged with the Sept. 24 stabbing death of his 67-year-old mother, Katrina Evans, along with an allegation that he used a knife in the commission of the crime.
"Police ... received a call from a man stating he killed his mother," according to a statement released by the Pasadena Police Department. "Police dispatch kept the suspect on the line while officers responded to the scene."

The woman's son was arrested that night in the 1100 block of Mentor Avenue in Pasadena, where police found the woman dead from multiple stab wounds, according to police.
Evans -- who is due back in a Pasadena courtroom Nov. 1 -- could face a maximum of 26 years to life in state prison if he is convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
