Pedestrian Struck On 210 Freeway By Car, Train Dies

PASADENA, CA — A pedestrian was struck Sunday evening walking along the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway and the impact sent him onto railroad tracks in the Gold Line station, where he was struck by a train.

The crash happened along the 210 Freeway at Lake Avenue and was reported at 9:05 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Dion Conley.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, and there were no details available about his age.

A news videographer at the scene said the impact from the apparent hit- and-run crash sent him over a concrete divider and onto railroad tracks. An officer at the scene told another videographer the man was struck by a train after landing on the tracks, and that the motorist who struck him remained at the scene.

The crash temporarily shut down the carpool and Number 1 and 2 lanes for the investigation, the CHP reported.

The CHP issued a SigAlert on the 210 Freeway at 9:36 p.m.

Metro tweeted at 9:49 p.m. that the Gold Line trains would share a track between the Fillmore and Allen stations, and tweeted at 11:15 p.m. that service returned to normal.
