Woman Detained By ICE In Pasadena

A woman was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

PASADENA, CA — Police officers were summoned Saturday to a Pasadena intersection where a woman was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The officers went about 7:30 a.m. Saturday to a 911 call of suspicious activity at Del Mar Boulevard and Catalina Avenue, Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

"Officers and a supervisor responded to evaluate the circumstances and discovered it was an ICE operation and PPD verified their identification," Derderian said. "The agents detained one female without incident and PPD did not assist ICE in the apprehension, as PPD was solely there for the call for service."

Pasadena firefighters were also called to the scene to evaluate the woman and treat her injuries, she said. The woman did not want to go to a hospital.

The woman's family was at the scene and was described as "very cooperate in diffusing the situation," Derderian said. Officers remained at the scene to monitor the small group that gathered during the operation.
