22-Year-old Man Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI In Petaluma Crash
Police responding to a report of a crash at Sonoma Mountain Parkway and Mauro Pietro Drive found a Honda Civic facing the wrong way.

PETALUMA, CA — A 22-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other crimes in the wake of a solo vehicle crash in Petaluma Saturday evening, police said.
Police received calls around 6:35 p.m. Saturday about a collision in the vicinity of Sonoma Mountain Parkway and Mauro Pietro Drive in which the vehicle hit the raised median, according to police.
An officer found a Honda Civic that had been driving northbound on Sonoma Mountain Parkway and ended up facing northbound in a southbound lane, police said. The car had front-end damage, but the driver was uninjured, according to police.

The driver displayed what police described as objective signs of alcohol intoxication along with signs and symptoms of drug use. He refused to take a field sobriety test, police said.
After further investigating, the officer concluded that the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs and arrested him, according to police.

After he was handcuffed, the suspect allegedly tried to flee, according to police. When the officer searched the suspect, he found a bag containing a substance the officer suspected might be cocaine, police said.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, obstructing/resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance, according to police. He was taken to the hospital for an evidentiary blood draw and then booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
