Allegedly Intoxicated Driver Leads Police On Slow Speed Chase In Petaluma
A 60-year-old Sonoma woman was arrested in Petaluma for allegedly leading police on a slow-speed chase on speeds as slow as 3 mph.
PETALUMA, CA — A 60-year-old Sonoma woman was arrested in Petaluma for allegedly leading police on a chase that ended with her being accused of driving under the influence.
Petaluma police officers were called to Jess Avenue and Payran Street at about 6 p.m. Thursday for a report of an occupied vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road, which callers found "suspicious," according to a news release from the Petaluma Police Department.
When officers tried to make contact with the driver, she allegedly fled, leading officers on a chase that lasted about 15 minutes and reached speeds up to 50 miles per hour. Police said officers also pursued the vehicle at speeds as slow as 3 mph.

The pursuit ended when the driver turned onto a dead-end road. She was taken into custody without further incident, and was accused of DUI and evading police, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
A Sonoma County Sheriff's Office helicopter assisted with the pursuit.
