Brush Fire In Sonoma County Threatens Structures, Shuts Down Road

Firefighters responded quickly to the fire, which was first reported at 1:52 p.m.

PENNGROVE, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a 2-acre fire quickly Friday in Penngrove, Cal Fire said.

At 1:52 p.m. on Friday, Cal Fire LNU firefighter units responded to the Good Fire located at the 2000 block of Goodwin Avenue in Penngrove, Cal Fire said. The fire threatened structures.

The California Highway Patrol shut down Old Redwood Highway between Adobe Road and Goodwin Avenue at 2:04 p.m..

A Cal Fire aircraft reported the forward progress had been stopped at 2:17 p.m.

"Crews will be working on containment and putting out hotspots for the next couple of hours," Cal Fire officials said.

CHP reopened Old Redwood at 2:17 p.m.
