• Petaluma Man Stops For Gas In Healdsburg, Leaves In Handcuffs (patch.com) — Petaluma readers may be interested to learn that a 30-year-old Petaluma man was arrested in Healdsburg after police spotted a red sedan reported stolen out of San Rafael at a local gas station. Officers linked him to the vehicle using its key fob and, after questioning, booked him into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle.
   

• Basketball: Casa Grande's Callan tournament features solid local field (pressdemocrat.com) — Petaluma High’s boys basketball team faces Cardinal Newman at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Casa Grande’s Brett Callan Memorial Tournament, one of three local hoops events this week. Casa Grande, St. Vincent, and Justin-Siena all host multi-day tournaments featuring many North Bay playoff-caliber teams, giving local fans several chances to catch high-level action before league play starts in January.
   

• Animal Rights Activist Says She Is Held In Cell 23 Hours A Day (patch.com) — A Petaluma-linked animal rights activist is serving a 30-day sentence in Sonoma County’s Main Adult Detention Facility after being convicted for taking chickens from the Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. Her supporters say strict cell confinement tied to her medical devices and questions about jail healthcare raise serious safety concerns, while prosecutors argue a tougher sentence was needed to deter similar actions affecting local agriculture.
