PETALUMA, CA — From egg to chicken, Petaluma residents take pride in their poultry. The closer to a zipcode beginning in 949 the chicken's origins, the better.

So residents may be surprised to by the newest addition to Petaluma's poultry scene that will be opening at 5012 Petaluma Boulevard North: A Chick-fil-A franchise.

The address is the former home of another chain restaurant, Cattlemens Steakhouse, which recently moved to Rohnert Park.

The bird and the bovine converge for the Dec. 4 opening of Chick-fil-A.

To celebrate, customers dressed in cow print — whether a full cow costume or simple cow-spotted accessory — on opening day will receive a free entrée.

The offer is part of the company's “Eat Mor Chikin” campaign.

"Since 1995, the Cows have been a beloved part of Chick-fil-A, encouraging humans to skip burgers and “Eat More Chikin” – and now it’s Petaluma’s turn to join the herd," according to a news release.

The offer is limited to "one per person in cow attire, per day," while supplies last.

Chris Cannon, of Texas, will be the local owner-operator of Chick-fil-A Petaluma.

The opening is to bring approximately 70 jobs to Petaluma, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the company will donate $25,000 donation to the Redwood Empire Food Bank and give surplus food to local nonprofits.

Chick-fil-A did not immediately respond to inquiries about where the poultry and other food will be sourced.
