Coroner IDs Man Who Died In Mobile-Home Fire Near Graton

The fatal fire started near a stove in the kitchen, according to the Graton Fire Department.

SANTA ROSA, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who died in a mobile home fire near Graton in west Sonoma County last week as Steven Bennett Palmer, 55, of Santa Rosa.

The fire at 5730 Cuneo Court off of Laguna Road in unincorporated Santa Rosa was reported around 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. It started near a stove in the kitchen, according to the Graton Fire Department.

Palmer was found in a bedroom in the back of the single-wide mobile home. Graton Fire Chief Bill Bullard said Palmer likely died of smoke inhalation because the bedroom was mostly intact.

The mobile home was behind the main residence on the property. The Sonoma County Fire Investigation Task Force is determining the cause of the fire.
