Crews Battle Middle Fire West Of Petaluma

Firefighters tackled​ a brush fire that broke out on Middle Two Rock Road and Succetti Road, west of Petaluma.

PETALUMA, CA — Firefighters tackled a brush fire that broke out on Middle Two Rock Road and Succetti Road, west of Petaluma in Sonoma County on Friday afternoon.

Referred to as the Middle fire, Petaluma police said in a Nixle alert shortly after 12 p.m. that it did not pose a threat to Petaluma residents within city limits.

"Our call center is inundated with calls regarding the smoke. Please do not call 911, unless there is an emergency. Thank you," police said in the alert at the time.

The Argus Courier reported that firefighters were able to stop the fire, which has burned more than 20 acres, from advancing. The fire was zero percent contained as of 1:35 p.m. but under control, according to California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

It wasn't immediate known if any structures in the area were threatened.

No evacuations were ordered.

The fire broke out shortly after 12 p.m. Friday. The cause is unknown, according to CAL FIRE.
