Driver Loses Control Of Corvette, Dies In Crash: CHP
A woman survived the crash on Petaluma Hill Road at Laurel Drive — a side entrance to Sonoma State University.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA —A man was killed in a crash Monday night in an unincorporated area of Sonoma County near Sonoma State University.
The fatal crash was reported at 10:22 p.m. on Petaluma Hill Road at Laurel Drive, a side entrance to SSU. California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the scene alongside fire personnel and found a Corvette with major damage.
"On-scene investigation indicated the Corvette was traveling at an excessively high speed at the time of the crash, causing the driver to lose control," the CHP said. "The Corvette veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree."

The collision "split the car in half," according to reports.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was a female passenger, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
