Grand Opening Celebration Set For Petaluma North SMART Station

Attendees can be among the first to ride to the new Petaluma North station.

PETALUMA, CA — Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit is planning to hold a grand opening celebration in January for the new Petaluma North SMART station.

Construction started in November 2023 on the station at Corona Road and North McDowell Boulevard. The SMART station has a parking lot with spots for cars, bicycles and electric-vehicle charging.

The grand opening event, set for noon on Friday, Jan. 10, at 320 Corona Road, will allow attendees to be among the first to ride to the new Petaluma North station. Those attending the celebration are encouraged to take one of the train trips listed below.

Arrival options:

  • Southbound train trip 21, arriving at approximately 11:25 a.m.
  • Northbound train trip 16, arriving at approximately 11:40 a.m.

After the event, attendees can explore nearby establishments before catching a later train.

Departure options:

  • Southbound train trip 23, departing at approximately 1:15 p.m.
  • Southbound train trip 25, departing at approximately 1:50 p.m.
  • Northbound train trip 18, departing at approximately 1:00 p.m.
  • Northbound train trip 20, departing at approximately 1:30 p.m.

SMART noted that the exact times for the Petaluma North station are still being incorporated into the system-wide schedule and will be posted in early January before the grand opening celebration.
