Petaluma Girl, 12, No Longer Missing: Police

Sydney Fischer was considered an at-risk runaway because of her age, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — UPDATE: A runaway girl reported missing Monday to the Petaluma Police Department was located and returned safely to her residence, police said in an update.

Sydney Fischer, 12, was found shortly after 1:30 p.m. by a family member on the east side of Petaluma, police said.

"The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the members of the community who provided information as to Fisher’s whereabouts."

ORIGINAL POST: The Petaluma Police Department asked for the public's help Monday locating a 12-year-old runaway girl.

Police said they received a call at 8:13 a.m. Monday that Sydney Fischer did not arrive at school and was last seen by her mother at 7:30 a.m. at the family residence on Lincoln Lane.

A note was found indicating Sydney had run away; she has no history of running away and is considered at-risk missing because of her age, police said.

Sydney was described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds. She has red hair and was last seen wearing a green or purple Girl Scout hoodie and shorts.

"We are asking for the community’s help in locating Fischer," police said. "If you have any information or have seen Fischer, please call the Petaluma Police Department at (707) 778-4372."
