SANTA ROSA, CA — Closures scheduled for westbound state Highway 12 this weekend in Santa Rosa were canceled because of a rainy forecast, Caltrans said.

The rotating full and partial closures to expedite pavement replacement were planned from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between the Downtown, South E Street and Dutton Avenue exits.

The slab replacement is part of a larger project that began in June to rehabilitate a three-mile stretch of SR-12 between Llano Road and Farmers Lane.

Caltrans did not give a date this week for when the rescheduled work may take place.

Caltrans chose to implement full nighttime and partial daytime freeway closures to accelerate the demolition and concrete slab replacement work that would take up to a year if performed during typical nighttime lane closures. Also, full nighttime closures are safer for workers and motorists, according to Caltrans.
