A man who was knocked unconscious and robbed of his cellphone at Lakeville and Madison streets positively identified the man who attacked him this morning.
Police arrested Aaron Graves, 44, of Petaluma and charged him with robbery and a probation violation. He was transported to Sonoma County Jail.
Petaluma officers and the Petaluma Fire Department responded at 9:36 a.m. to the report of an assault victim that had been knocked unconscious. The man, an employee of a local business, was awake when emergency responders arrived on the scene. Although he didn’t know which direction his attacker had fled, a citizen in the area reported seeing a possible suspect go into a home on Wilson Street. Officers found Graves in the home, and the victim identified him as the man who assaulted him and took his cell phone.
The victim was treated for sutures to his face and released from a local hospital.
